Debbie Chen Pichler is a sign language linguist at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. She is a heritage speaker of Taiwanese and mother to two children who are heritage speakers of both Taiwanese and Croatian. This summer, they are spending a whole month in Taiwan.
